Dr. Edenfield, completed his undergraduate studies in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree from Longwood University and received his D.D.S. from the Howard University College of Dentistry in 1998. Upon completion of his academic work, Dr. Edenfield returned to Virginia Beach to practice dentistry because of his personal and family connections to the area. He first moved to Virginia Beach in 1975 when his father, a career U.S. Navy sailor was reassigned.
Dr. Edenfield has a strong interest in the art of Endodontics (Root Canals) and has devoted a very significant number of hours completing continuing education courses and seminars specifically related to this specialty. In addition to his interest in Endodontics, Dr. Edenfield has become certified in the highly specialized area of Intravenous (IV) and Oral Sedation. He recently completed the University of Southern California sedation technique course conducted by Dr. Stanley Malamed, one of the foremost international authorities on dental anesthesiology. John F. Courtney, MHA, CHE
Business Manager
John is a very experienced healthcare executive with more than twenty five years managing medical and dental facilities. He is a retired U.S. Air Force officer who managed medical and dental activities in several government and private clinics and hospitals throughout the United States, China, and Europe. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and, he received his Master of Arts degree in Healthcare Administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
John has continued to be very active in the national healthcare arena and has contributed his consulting expertise to numerous private medical and dental practices. He not only became an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives but he also completed the rigorous requirements to gain the status of Diplomat and is recognized as a Certified Healthcare Executive. He has been very active in the local community through active involvement with the Chamber of Commerce, an ongoing volunteer with Relay For Life as well as a strong supporter of several local and national charities. Additionally, he has personally assisted several families through the process of purchasing their first homes and worked closely with local Housing and Redevelopment Authorities to make affordable housing available for families in need. Also, he has a keen interest in helping disadvantaged individuals gain access to much needed medical and dental care and he actively works with local, state, and federal agencies to insure access and funding are available.
Dan Zunitch, D. D. S
Dr. Zunitch has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Adventist University and a D.D.S. from Loma Linda University. He also has gained certification in the highly special-ized area of Intravenous (IV) and Oral Conscious Sedation. Profes-sional affiliations include: Ameri-can Dental Association and Tennes-see Dental Association.
John Michael Courtney, B.S., Clinic Manager
John Michael is the Clinic Manager for the Chattanooga Clinic and has a Bachelors of Science degree from Auburn University and has held several executive management positions in the private sector; most recently for ten years with Clayton Homes.
John Michael has been with Dr. Michael E. Edenfield, DDS, PC since November 2006 and is a very strong supporter of Special Needs (MH/MR) individuals. He continues to work tirelessly to make sure all waiver patients have access to comprehensive dental services.
