Sedation dentistry is a very safe way for patients to have their dental work done. We are a highly-trained, professional organization that prides itself in how well we treat all of our patients’ varied dental needs. We monitor our patients with sophisticated digital equipment to ensure their comfort and safety at all times.
For over five years, our dental practice has treated special needs (MH/MR) patients EXCLUSIVELY, and, we understand their unique challenges and needs. After managing almost 20,000 special needs patient appointments, we have discovered and use many techniques to make sure each patient has their individual needs met to ensure they remain relaxed and in their “comfort zone”. We have an “open-door” policy that allows personal caregivers and family members to enter the treatment rooms to assist getting patients ready for their dental treatment. Once the patient has medication administered through an IV tube, they get very sleepy and generally fall into a “dream-like” state of relaxation. The dentist is able to proceed at that point and the caregivers or family members are asked to wait in the lobby; although they are welcomed to check on the individual periodically.
If the individual is an eligible WAIVER patient, then there is never any cost to the patient, their conservator, or their Provider Service Agency. Payment arrangements between Dr. Edenfield and the State of Tennessee are on a contractual basis and PRE-APPROVAL of funding must take place before any dental services can be rendered. We understand the importance of securing advanced funding and support the Independent Service Coordinators (ISC’s) completely.
Once funding approval has been granted, the ISC and the Provider Service Agency will be notified of the appointment date and time. All of our patients have their own appointment time and it is very important that the caregivers have their clients in our office at the appointed time. Should something happen that might cause a delayed arrival please call us on (423) 305-7995 to let us know.
